23 January 2015 - A busy week!
Update on microdungeons, announcing 150 of them created.

Also, new Volcano parallax art.

And giant monster generation! With the hope to have them replace mini-bosses, and that eventually they'll have unique death animations (more than just puffing into smoke)

And finally, new breakable rock formations underground, which can contain ores. Consider them the equivalent of the Pixel containers you can find.

let me know when they fix the core mechanics of the game

UNIMPRESSED. How about something cool like skeletron prime?!

Oooh ooh, or a giant mecha than spawns smaller robots

gosh DANG IT i'm so mad they're not updating the game OK THIS DOESN'T COUNT

Instead of handanimating they're using rotating joints D:

from a design point of view, that's much easier to work with on all sides. consider as well that the enemies have to have a degree of procedural generation to them. if they can pull it off, i don't think there's much a problem. i didn't notice until you pointed it out, and even then i had to look for awhile. of course, someone with more experience in pixel art like yourself would likely be able to spot this kind of thing a mile away so what do i know NOTHIN that's wat bustre...

it's most noticeable on the tail and neck i think. it's goofy in areas where shading doesn't change when it probably should

Admittedly, some of the games that have incredible design, for example Metal Slug, have rotating joints and simple transformation movements. The difference being that it's very well done there, and something that's difficult to notice unless you're looking for it specifically. And, you know, the part where there's still hand-animated frames. A lot of them.

god that tail looks like stuff in the open-mouth freezeframe

The animation reminds me of Scribblenauts.
