I remember when it was announced for the beta to be released in december 2012 :v

what?

I remember when it was announced for the beta to be released in december 2012 :v
that wasn't the beta, that was the full game.

starbound's initial announcement was around february 2012, they said they'd have a game out before 2013.
when that didn't happen they assured everyone that it would be out before 2014 definitely.
when that also didn't look like it was happening and tiy had the idea of a beta ready he changed it like
"oh sorry guys we meant we'd have the BETA out before 2014 haha!!"
some people have been waiting almost two years for this game, jesus christ.

It doesn't even look like they are prioritizing content.

Apparently there are bugs to fix but they keep adding new little things like RANDOM TREE GENERATOR and BUNNY BOUNCE PHYSICS

Which would be all fine and dandy if the development were being handled like Minecraft. Like really, get a playable alpha out there and then you can add all the goofy stuff you want. Yeah, a 3 year development cycle sucks. But it wouldn't even be that bad if you could play the game and get whatever goofy thing the developer adds as patches every week.

Like I said earlier though, all the hype I had for this game has died and I'm halfway expecting it to be vaporware at this point. :\

i used to actually think it'd be released before the summer vacation of 2013 started

hahahaha
hahaha
ahaha
ahahuhuhu
uuuhuhuuhuhuuu
huuuuuuuuuu

I remember going through summer waiting for something to come out, but nothing did. Neither Terraria 1.2 nor Starbound beta :(

oh my god so much this

Cube World came out and to me at least it was an immense disappointment, the summer of 2013 was a an indie development wreck from where i'm sitting.

ugh idk why i expected cube world to be good

it's probably the most boring single player experience i've ever had

it's probably the most boring single player experience i've ever had

also the most boring multi player experience

seriously, i TRIED to fool myself into thinking it wasn't painfully uninteresting but i just couldn't

could be better if there were more elements in the ALPHA

its just that he's taken so long on it I'm starting to believe it really is just the finished product.

at least 1.2 actually CAME OUT EVENTUALLY.

Nobody has ever decided that grass or mainly rubber is a good medium of exchange

that's because it isn't.
but someone just might find food and supplies a good medium of exchange

have you ever heard of trade? lol, do you think that when an apocalypse happens people will magically get silver and gold and use it to buy things? no, they will trade, if there are even people willing to give stuff away anyway.

"holy stuff i am hungry"
*hello sir would you like some chips i found*
"yes please"
*okay but do you have something to drink? i am thirsty!*
"no but i do have this shiny metal!"
*i have no use for that*

This is where none of you get it. Everything you've said is definitely true, however in an economic collapse its not going to be a cold turkey apocalypse. We will revert back to older mediums of exchange. And Gold and Silver (metals etc. bartering included) will be the forefront of it. I also posted a good link on WHY Gold and Silver DO have an actual intrinsic value. Read it and maybe this won't be so hard to process. It's highly unlikely we are going to have absolutely no form of currency at all. So for anyone else who continues to say this exact same thing, you're not being intelligent and you're not thinking about it properly. If you don't have something that people will statistically WANT then you are boned.
