They need publicity, that's why all these guys were contacted or at least given the opportunity.

Try early access by about one and a half days of difference with the beta release date.

Popular youtubers are getting early access to add to the hype, and probably to confirm that the beta is coming really soon. I don't know about you, but I sure as hell breathed a sigh of relief when I got solid confirmation that the beta was nearly done.

Most of these people in question are well-known content creators who will help the game itself become more widely recognized without a doubt. I think that fact let alone justifies giving them a few days early access.

edit:
probably should have read up more on groups before making it but i'm fairly sure it'll work just fine, i can add starbound as the game this group is featured around, which will most likely cause the "In-Game" counter to go up when people are playing it (once it's released that is).
