I doubt it'll even load without some conversion process. Most likely case, they'll just update the game to identify old saves rather than telling the updater to clear the folder out, so showing it your backup and asking it to load it will probably result in "Oh, that file is out of date. Here, let me throw that away for you."

you gotta find a gun trader. apparently the universe isnt actually random and if you put in specific coordinates you can find specific planets.

   x=-33935893 y=-73195750

put these coordinates in and you will find a planet with a gun trader (the level 3 one). hopefully
