The point is they usually tell us beforehand.

Yes, character/ship wipes are expected, yes this is beta.

But do you expect anyone who bought this game to not play it now? They had us waiting long enough for the damn thing.

well they kind of only had two choices

a. release beta, people who are (albeit rightfully so) getting impatient will immediately begin to play it and then end up having to suffer through character & other wipes

b. don't release beta and have fanbase slowly wither as we make the game as complete as possible before release

they technically took the option that was better for us.

they technically took the option that was better for us.

It's still in the player's right to be a little upset when they lose stuff they spend days or hours acquiring.

I'm not mad, but other people might be and that's fine, as long as they don't believe that this is the devs fault for trying to make the game better.

yeah i definitely agree there
my hunt for all 28 instruments is now back at one, the lead guitar i had in my inventory for some reason, and i can't play it or it instantly shuts down my game.
