"Dev Blog: December 5th - You must find balance!"
Energy has been redesigned now so that it's better balanced, and to work more effectively with guns.

Energy only refills if you stop consuming it - So stop using guns, or double-jumps or whatever.
Energy refills much more quickly than before.
The time it takes for your energy bar to refill is always the same, even if you have lots more energy.
If you fully empty your energy bar, you can not use any recharged energy before it has fully refilled.

That's actually worse than before. It makes a already bad system even worse.

"oh hey im fighting these guys and now im out of energy and cant recharge cause I have to keep shooting/jumping to not die what do I do"

Nevermind, not hyped anymore.

But guns are already MASSIVELY energy-inefficient turds. How is this new system going to make them balanced? That guy managed to deplete his entire energy pool with 4 (incredibly slow) shots, and based on past experiences I seriously doubt that would be enough to do any substantial damage compared to just wailing on the target with a melee weapon.

I was expecting something smaller down the line to be the big "they blew it" but wow holy hell that's beyond terrible.

Starbound is more of a simulator than a game now

Guns use the energy bar? What do they fatigue your character or something? Where the forget is Starbounds ammo mechanics that should be a thing? Wheres my reloading bench and my various types of pixel ammo i can make for my guns?

WHERES THE CONCEPT OF AMMO

I could understand laser rifles or other energy-based weapons but what the forget firing a bullet gun that shoots gun bullets shouldn't drain energy.

I want to be able to craft custom ammo types like in Terraria.
Unless you're Borderlands, guns and their ammo types being based entirely on RNG are a dog-stuff idea.

iunno about ammo but energy is kinda weird
like it's good not having to fetch and scavenge for ammo but it makes no sense

instead of ammo you could also just have some sort of energy...pellet or something that you can put into your guns and after a (long) while they run out and you have to recharge them

and as a result you wouldn't have to use this horrifying system
i thought starbound was already mediocre to play but holy stuff lol, now i'm really glad that mods exist

I'm probably late as forget but I only just realized that it's possible to stay alive on the moon and asteroid fields. This changes everything.

in retrospect i should have assumed starbound would crash and burn the instant i noticed they actually use the term 'pixel' to describe an actual world object
