Author Topic: Next generation consoles.  (Read 3251 times)

wtf

apparently consoles are magic boxes that can process literally anything unless it's above 1080p.  Computers have some catching up to do.

computer vid cards are already capable of rendering higher then 1080. its tv and game consoles that are holding everything back.and this new gen of consoles coming out are already on par with what we have been seeing for the last 6 years...

i blame tv and the consoles for the slow evolution in video games. us poor pc gamers have had to wait up for you losers. once the industry standards decide you guys have capped out, the pc hardware already capable of using higher resolution monitors can finally see them in retail stores.

pff, forget xbox, forget playstation, forget the wee you, and only forget the piston a little

PC master race 4ever

Eh.
I'll just save my money for when the steam box comes out.

My 500ish dollar PC can easily run BF3 better than your console can. I personally hate controllers as an input device anyway.
There's some nice PC games that work good with controllers.

But the motion business has to stop.

I've seen game resolutions at 2160p
amazing as forget
(these resolutions of images are actually lower quality than in-game)

No really, wtf.

You know that graphics processing is quite intense, right?  It doesn't make sense to go right to 4k+ at the moment, especially when you're not even going to see the difference from the distance from the couch to the TV.

Who is "you losers" here, exactly?  You know that computer monitors greatly surpassed TVs for a long time back when CRTs were the standard for tvs, right?  Who says that can't happen again?  The reason 1080p is so popular is because it's already a standard, and mid range copmuters are already having a hell of a time trying to run games at that resolution.  Screw resolution, I want a good monitor with <1ms response times.

Do you guys want to know why you need to spend so much on PCs?
Because developers insist on focus on optimization for consoles and not PC. If games where developed more with PC focus, you could go for cheaper PCs. Just look at Valve's source engine. It looks great and is pretty low requirements, wanna know why? Because they focused on PC first. :v

Sales are also a lot better on Steam for the majority of games. Especially indie games.

And yes, this could be one of the last generations of consoles. Don't bother laughing, it's not a joke. Considering this console cycle has been going on for nearly eight years now, in a couple more cycles (16 - 24 years) consoles may (hopefully) be gone.

Half Life 2:

Portal 2:

The recommended from 2004 is the minimum from 2011

that (portal 2) minimum is incredibly low lol. like very very very very outdated low.

Even I got with the times and I killed my dinosaur. I may not come from a rich family or a family with money to spare, so If I can get a new pc then anyone can.
