Author Topic: Make campaign gamemode with AI holes?  (Read 2985 times)

Normally story-lined based things in Blockland are fun to play. As long the new AI has many useful functions. So why not a campaign gamemode? The system in the Speed kart and Rampage gamemode could be applied to this with multiple builds being loaded to simulate levels with changes in environment as well. Player count can be adjusted with console commands so why not have the game auto adjusted the player limit to the suggested maximum if it goes higher than can possibly work. Thoughts?

Then comes the problem of AI's in it that don't work. So what if once AI holes come a plot based gamemode is made with them?

Pretty much a themed challenge that includes Badspot's AI holes for fighting, working with, being general distractions, decorations, trying to protect. Sorta like portal 2.

I did but I don't really understand it. Why would need a special gamemode like racing for this? VCE + bots and you're good to go. If you want fancier stuff then it's really something that you would need script yourself specifically for your server according to your own ideals. Sure Badspot could script a base RPG layout but that would just spawn dozens of copies of the same server running the same mod.

Sorta like portal 2.

AI "holes" is the name of the bot spawns. If you are wondering where I got this idea go look on Badspot's server. Would it have been better if I made the title "Make a plot based gamemode with Badspot's AI once they come out?"?

This could work like sorta like the Cyblock campaign that The Titanium made.

The gamemode should allow user made levels so people could contribute. Now we need to create some BL canon.

the main thing that would be needed is scripting lordi, to clear bricks and load the ones of the next level once finished. To adjust the game to the player amount there and set anyone who joins late in an AI sort of role. For checkpoints to save inventory data. later code that is activated by event may be needed. Plot is going to be like the old lego time cruisers where you are traveling through time to stop a rouge villain.

level layout should work like rampage and speed kart
map 1 loads
map 1 is cleared map 2 loads
map 2 is cleared map 3 loads
Except "map" is the level.

Storyline games are good if they're done right.

Brainstorm gameplay elements to add and introduce to the player as they progress through the story, write and interesting and entertaining story for the players to go through, and make the build very interactive.
