Author Topic: Bots that drive around in your city.  (Read 3801 times)

If someone could make a bot brick car with a minifig modeled in the car then you could start having bot vehicles driving around your city.

I want to see someone make a bot car with a modeled minifig inside the car. Then add specific events to make the bot able to drive around your city. All of this would use the new bot system we have.

The existence of the minifig shape in a vehicle does not automatically make the vehicle work with the bot events, nor would you be able to modify the avatar face/decal/parts for the model, the work required to make it do so is something nobody will be willing to do.

Oh, you mean the car is a bot..

Well, in that case, only this part of my argument stands.

I though the default bots could mount vehicles and drive them around. Several people have said that they've done it.

They can, i have one doing it right now.

Well how can you make a bot mount onto a vehicle and force it to run on a specific path?

Well I would imagine you spawn the bot above the vehicle and decollision the bot spawn to mount it. Then I would put events that tell the bot where to move in the bot spawn that are activated once the bot spawns.

On the bot hole do this event: onBotSpawn Bot GoToBrick 'Car'

On the 'car' brick which is a vehicle spawner go: onBotReachBrick Bot GoToBrick 'test'

On the 'test' brick set it to go to another brick, then after however many more bricks you want, loop it back to the first 'test' and it will drive back to the start where it will repeat the circuit! c:

They're not brilliant drivers and take corners pretty widely but it works.

I've been trying to make a highway with bots driving down it, and they refuse to drive in a straight line between two perfectly aligned points, they always just kinda float off to one side :s

Make a few more waypoints closer together. When in a vehicle bots think of waypoints as more of a general guideline.

I was able to get bots to navigate the hydro plant speedkart map as a test, so a straight line should be possible.

I managed to get a bot drive around a block. It was fun, but they surely have a lead foot.  An event would be nice later on that makes a bot slow down. Or maybe I just have to tinker with the bot events more.

setRunSpeed will alter their speed, playGesture jump will make them brake.

Might be better to just make a bot vehicle with a modeled minifig inside it that appears to look like it's driving the vehicle.

Adding in more waypoints makes them take corners better, you can also make them slow down to go round one tighter, look at what Cubelands posted.

it isn't events...
if you save something with a script, it does nothing..

If you are good at scripting, you can prevent people from stealing your gamemodes

If you mount a bot to a jeep or any only WASD vehicle, you can %bot.setmovedestination(%pos) to make it drive to that position.

ALSO, with this new bot update, you can just plop a bot in a vehicle and watch them go!
