Author Topic: Interiors and Terrains are never coming back  (Read 8696 times)

Terrain was only ugly because map makers put no effort into their maps.

Though I do miss terrain, I'm absolutely fine with shaders.

GSF's maps were my favorite maps. I loved terrain and I drive around in my FROG Tank Battlefield whenever i'd get bored. I'd play ZAPT in the Kitchen fridge, Pecon7's boss battles in the Bedroom. HITNOKAT, Random Players and I would race Pandan's Raceway map with side-car motorbikes.

At first when shaders came out, I could run them on low and still be satisfied with the Shaders. After a revision or two, my GC wasn't compatible with Shaders anymore, so there was really no reason to play anymore. The servers sucked, no maps, HK, and a few other friends left the game. The servers are fine nowadays, but I still miss terrain for nostalgic reasons, and for the fact they made this game Blockland.

You were a lego figure, in a Bedroom, building all sorts of creations and battling each other for no reason. Flying planes in the Kitchen, CTF in the backyard, and finding the Golden Brick in Construct. Sure, the some maps may have been low quality, but most of them were well executed. Shaders and Terrain are compatible to an extent, but Terrain is/was holding back the progress, plus the Devs didn't care for it. In the future, there may be a way to fix this, but until then Terrain generators are your friends.

Another player-made copy of v20 would be cool.
The only way i can think of to fix the issue that the removal of terrain caused would be to better optimize bricks and add more default maps. Maybe a way to permanently combine all the bricks so that they were all a single entity or something, i don't know.

I don't know about that, though it could be interesting.

Its sad cause right before the shaders came out i became a good mapper

;-;

maps sucked, were boring, ugly, and silly as hell. any serious building went on in slate or adjustable slate.

Funny of you to make this topic. It's now possible to play V20 with terrains and interiors.

too bad you posted like the worst possible terrain you could find

I was just thinking that maybe it would be possible to do, making a person able to create a large map with thousands of bricks then permanently fuse them together to reduce lag, allowing other builds to be built on top of the map, like terrain.

I really liked terrain as well. I was sad to see it go. It's not that I don't like change, it was just an extremely big part of the game for me.

The amount of people quoting my avatar isn't even funny anymore.

I prefer brick terrain over map terrain because it's easier to build on but I'm just so lazy to build good looking terrain.

It also limits map size drastically more than terrains did.

It is possible.
But creating that tool would be a hell lot more complicated than building the terrain

I suggested something like this:

not everyone feels the same. a lot of people had fun on them.
its called badspot updates the graphics. you dont just throw out features because they start getting old or outdated. you UPDATE them.
