Author Topic: Getting a MacBook Pro Retina 15-inch, but shaders?  (Read 3131 times)

a macbook is a good laptop

it wont run shaders but it's pretty decent nonetheless

if you dont really care about games all that much a macbook is a fine laptop

i purchased an alienware about 3 years ago and i've had no problems.

just because you buy a single one and it comes broken on accident and for some reason you DON'T return it for full price and a new one <-- (why the hell not?) doesn't mean it's bad. i can still run modern games at high graphics without issues.
Was it a laptop?
If so what was the price?

A lot of people have no clue what they're talking about in this topic...

The bottom line is, the developers of Blockland gave up trying to give their Mac users the same experience as their Windows users.

Many Macs are perfectly capable as far as graphics and processing power goes, but they just aren't supported equally.

Kompressor and Badspot as far as I know.

Having a 13' MacBook Pro, I'll tell you it DOES work only up to minimum shaders.

Why waste so much money on a mac, macs aren't designed for gaming. Buy a cheaper PC or build your own computer.
So much this.

So much this.

I am not a big gamer, but for me Macintosh is just as good as other alternatives. I mainly need my Mac because it's very compatible and efficient as an operating system. I also use it a lot during class and Apple computers have excellent battery life which I truly need. If I want, I can use Bootcamp and use Windows 7 on it. My dad has had his eMac from 1997 and STILL uses it without a problem only to type up reports, notes and to browse the web though.

I got Windows 8, but I didnt know shaders will work on it because  both of them uses the same graphics card.

Also, thanks for stopping these idiots from bashing Macs.
Yes, in order to install windows though you need to tweak with bootcamp and stuff, there are several tutorials on youtube.

Anyone who says Mac isn't good for gaming is obviously pretty uninformed.

Just because one indie game out there doesn't support the same graphical shader type doesn't make an entire line of computers not capable of gaming.

Mac GPU architecture only supports one shader type, the one Blockland doesn't use.  Most company produced games now-a-days support both shader types, so Macs can run them, however Blockland doesn't currently have this support, nor will it most likely ever.

Macs can run games just fine, it just so happens that it can't run Blockland after minimum because it just simply isn't supported, not that it can't handle it.

Can I has a 13' one?!?!
Does that even fit in my room?!

The website says that a 13" has crappy intel graphics, while the 15" one has a 650 gt

If you live in a mud hut in a slum in the middle of Bangladesh, then the odds are the 13' one will not fit inside your compact room.
