I don't think he necessarily deserved an expulsion for it, but, like, school handbooks (no one reads these, I know :v) are super clear on their knife policies.

A couple years ago, something similar happened at my school. But, I go to a private school with about 500 people. Well, I met this guy, he was pretty cool. But, in his 7th grade year, he went insane, brought a giant knife to school, and attempted homocide and Self Delete. He was then arrested at the school, as well as expelled.

I know lots of people who carry pocket knives at school. The best thing to do is call it a letter opener, and if someone asks why it is sharp just pretend you didn't know you weren't supposed to sharpen letter openers.
