boobump

Making sounds for out doors and indoors. takes awhile

Also, got a new map idea, I'll get to work ASAP.

I know this is a 1 month bump :P But this isn't dead guys, we've gotten really far. Things we've got down:

2 Maps
Networking
GUI (Almost done! Gotta fix up a bug)
Working chat
etc

Things we need to finish:
GUI
Character
Weapons
-

So yeah, we're looking for some good 3D artists / level designers / Other. You don't have to be amazing either. Just amateur.

Q: Will I be forced to do stuff?
A: No, we'll give you assignments, but it doesn't mean you have to do them right away, nor do you have to do them at all. But if you sign up, we will expect you to do them.

Q: Is there a fee of any sort? To like help pay off something?
A: No, all we expect from you in return is to have a 3D modeling software, free or not. (Blender, MS3D, Wings3D, etc)

Q: Okay, so what type of models are you looking for?
A: Weapons, Characters.

Q: What if I want to make maps?
A: If you want to make maps, then get a 3D modeler with you, or if you are a 3D artist, then download the NeoAxis SDK, open the map editor and start making it! Make sure it is enclosed, has cover, has spawning areas, isn't too big, and make sure that it isn't too processor demanding. (Don't cover the whole map with grass). Make sure you import your models, if you need help just ask me.

Q: I want to get started!
A: PM me.

I'll try to get pics of the newest map ASAP.

Why aren't you using Unity? It's free as far as I know? Torque 3D is free too. I feel like either of those engines would be much better than this NeoAxis.

What kind of models do you need apart from weapons and characters?

Well, Unity is free sure, it's nice. But it doesn't give you the nice lighting effects and other things. I haven't really looked into torque much. But imo, NeoAxis can look just as good as any other engine. Anyhow, apart from weapons and characters? Plenty of things! Here's a list of things:

Crate types (Ammo crates, etc)
Barrels
Barriers
Tree's
Car Model (It's a prop)
Blown up car model
Other props you'd find such as (Laptops, Desks, Chairs, Shoes, Cans, etc)
Rocks
-

Yeah :P If you want to model some buildings, then here is what we need:

Houses (1 variant so you can't walk in, the other where you can)
Radio Tower
Barn
-

Whoever helps, will be considered part of the team.

Lighting effects like bloom, ambient occlusion, and real-time shadows? Unity Pro (commercial) supports real-time shadows, and T3D supports real-time shadows on Windows. (Not because of T3D limitations, but because Mac OpenGL library support is lacking I believe.)

I'm not sure I want to become a part of the team but I might do a few models for fun.

Unity does give you shadows and stuff, but to get some of those things you have to pay some cash. Unless you want to get a 3rd party code that will still cost some cash...

Of course, even if you do become part of the team, you won't have to do anything more. I guess I should have said "Credit" instead of team.

But we'd love that :)

What kind of license will the game have? Open-source or closed source?

It actually might be open source. Depending how soon I want to implement mods.

However, it most likely will be closed source cause I don't really want all of our models and other things going everywhere.

Also here's how you give me the models, (Just a few steps).

1. When you are giving me the model, MAKE SURE the textures are not on the model.

2. Send me the model and the textures separately.

3. Make sure your model is grouped into different sections, make sure that you name the groups  to how you want the texture (e.g. Group name: Scratched Metal  Texture Name: Scratched Metal)

Make sure it's in .OBJ form or .3DS.

If you make it open source then you can't use CGTextures which is approximately the best thing ever.

Blockland isn't open source and see how many mods we have.

Wow! Nice site, we'll go closed source.

Texture resolution? I suggest 1024x1024.

By ammo box do you mean a crate filled with ammunition or TF2 style ammo refill pickup?

I'm also going to need some character models or some sort of a scale so the stuff I make is in correct proportion to the rest of the game.

I'd love to work on this, but I has no skills.
What do you need right now?

Just an ammo box, like something that looks like it has ammunition in it.

Sure thing, everything is being scaled to the default NA character which will change to a custom model, but everything will be scaled the same. Do you know how to import .DAE into whatever program you use?

If "skills" means you do not know how to model or anything, just post what you can do and I'll see what we have open. We're always looking for people to do even the simplest things.
