Author Topic: Google, stop trying to make youtube into a social network.  (Read 1928 times)

Note: This has nothing to do with the layout issues people love to bitch about.

Google buzz didn't work.
Google plus didn't work.
So in order to compete with facebook, google took their already extremly popular service and has started to make it more of a social network, so they can finally compete with facebook.

First they replaced rating with likes and dislikes.
Then they tried linking it up with their social network and other sites.
And now for the second time, they're trying to get us to use our real names. (which one day may very will be required, not an option)

What do you think?

Excuse me while I try to get pictures of English youtube so I can show what I'm talking about.

I think Google should stop because they have money already.

they have lots of us by the balls, too. People use youtube as their main method of income, so if we want to use a different site in protest, these people will be forgeted over

First they replaced rating with likes and dislikes.
Yeah, because binary opinions exist only on social networks.

They wouldn't have done it if it weren't for Facebook.

They should stay at what they are good at. Searching.

No, it's really because nobody rated anything 2 or 4 stars.  It really just made everything less complicated.

whats google buzz
Exactly.

By god when I'm trying to watch a video and it pops up trying to get me to change my name and making it as irritating as possible to say no I get mad.

I like G+, its better than that cluster forget hellhole facebook.

However I still don't see why it annoys people about IRL Names though.
I used to think it was a bad thing, but then I started thinking it wouldn't be so bad, lots of people do it now anyways.

The only thing I think would be better is if they stopped asking you about it and just set it aside as a option instead.

This is True, some people would only rate 1 or 5 stars usually.

please tell me what the problem is, here?

likes and dislikes are a much superior system

please tell me what the problem is, here?
it's more of the fact that google has to have everything. Theyre trying to make their own version of everything, and buying things out if it wont work. Other companies should exist for competition, other than everything being google

buying things out is a part of competing
it's not about competition, it's about money
having a monopoly is much more effective than competing with other companies

I don't think very highly of people who depend on a (single) website as their sole source of income.
There are other video hosting sites out there (might even be better) and honestly, I wouldn't mind google sticking it to them, but that's just me.
