On the forums it can really vary from topic to topic.
Some are just pathetic, some are entirely unnecessary, some are overly harsh, some are humorous (for a number of reasons) and some are quite justly made.
Some of the pathetic ones (Like this guy banned me from his server the moment I joined) are simply boring and annoying. They have no use and are whinging over something incredibly unimportant. That's Dramas where people complain that some random person has made a tiny random slight against them, so they waste their time making a Drama instead of just carrying on.
Or they're the ones where someone posts 2 lines saying "x did something bad, ban him forever and never admin", and they never give any information on the person, or what they really did, or any evidence of it, and sometimes not even the persons ID. They're pathetically unhelpful.
The unnecessary ones (like the 5 or 6 that appear anytime someone spams the forums) are, as the name implies, unnecessary. There's nothing helpful about them and they often just add to the stuffpile that forms when someone starts mass-spamming.
The overly harsh ones can be upsetting, where someone goes full-blown mental over another person for a slight reason, or an argument turns into petty insults being thrown back and forth.
I personally don't see how you can enjoy that, but obviously some people do. I suppose it's a bit like the big group at a school that forms around two weaklings having a "fight".
Then the humorous ones are entertaining for how funny they can be. That might be that the OP has done something ridiculous, or made a fool of themselves. Or the Drama is about something entertaining.
The Drama might not succeed in anything, but it's fun to watch and maybe join in.
Or it can be things like Badspot's Mailbag, which are often hilarious.
And then you get just ones, which are exceedingly helpful. Whether it causes some sort of forum paranoia or not, who doesn't want to know of a prevalent "hacker" in the community, or a thief or liar?
It's nice to have a warning system in place, and if lots of people agree that there's a troublesome member around, then it helps others.
I'll also admit that there is a pretty good feeling in knowing that you've "bested" someone in the Drama section.
Whether that's turning around a Drama on someone who deserves it, or convincing someone their argument is flawed, or defending yourself from an attack and succeeding, or delivering a successful drama against someone.
As petty as it sounds, the Drama board can act as a form of online gladiatoral arena. And who doesn't want to win in one of those? It's better than losing.
