Author Topic: Do you believe in aliens?  (Read 9774 times)

So you're telling me that an intelligent alien species that can casually travel in space and visit other planets is afraid of a small race on a single planet the greatest achievement of which is landing on the moon of said planet in a tiny tin can?
Covered in tin foil like a baked potato? Only reason an alien race could be afraid of humans would be because they wanted to be careful when they make first contact so they wouldn't scare us and turn "Halo" into a true story.

Did i word that wrong or something? I'm pretty sure that If there was a planet that had aliens on it far away from us in such a distance they would be able to make it to us, we would have seen them already.

I'm sorry, but are you stuck in the 1960s?
Technology for space shuttles have advanced since that time.

I'm sorry but are you handicapped? We may have advanced since then but our space program is still nothing compared to that of a hypothetical alien race that has the ability to travel to other planets.

How do you know that a such alien race even exists? What if the human race is actually the most advanced civilization so far?

If there are any alien races out there, it would take thousands of years for them to reach us, far beyond any reasonable hypothetical life expectancy. If they could reach us with that in mind, then they would have to be far more intelligently capable than we are, so they wouldn't be afraid of us. They also wouldn't let us exploit them, as obviously they would be able to know if we are and stop it.

And obviously those aliens would be able to travel with the speed of "hyper light" since they couldn't just plan an operation where the aliens would just forget each other and teach their kids to be pilots to man the ship when the old captains die since any species being born in space would result in a highly mutated creature incapable of movement.

i know you guys have some reading issues, so i helped you out.

I don't know what that word means.

I looked it up and still don't understand it.

....so much for men of science.
hypothetical being it's a proposed idea that acts as an assumption for further experimentation and idea-making. it's the precursor to a theory.

...tiny tin can?
"Here am I sitting in a tin can, far above the world"

ok

See "The Kepler Mission"

Seriously, this satellite was launched in 2009 and it has already found hundreds upon thousands of planets that are in the right position in space to sustain life.

see: the fact that you have no idea how many planets it's actually discovered that have a slight chance of being capable of sustaining life

also they broke it gj nasa

Since radio signals travel in space forever, could it be possible that when its year 3000, an advanced alien race could pick up some of humanity's first radio broadcasts? It would be funny if they had studied the human race and would arrive on earth wearing early 1900's clothes and using early 1900's jokes.

In Futurama there was an episode on this, but instead of wearing old clothes the aliens from "Omicron 6" (I think that was the name of the planet)  they demand to see new episodes from an ancient soap series.
