Author Topic: Do you believe in aliens?  (Read 9782 times)

Its illogical to assume there couldn't be. There is an estimated 30 billion trillion planets in the universe. How could you say that only of those planets has life?

because we invented space travel,
Why would we be the only ones?
self producing, ie, once a single or few entities exist, they begin to recreate themselves by one form or another, rather than relying on otherwise natural processes for more to come into existence. actually one of the core tenants for something to be able to be called "life".
I know what it means.

Just... why do you think this?

it's pretty commonly held in the scientific community that if something is incapable of producing more of itself by some process, it doesn't meet the requirements for life.

Little green people? Maybe. Little green microscopic life-forms? YES. 100%

There is great reason to believe that there might be life in Europa's oceans. If there is, that means that not only does life exist outside of Earth, but also that life is abundant within the known universe!

Aliens keep flooding in from Mexico. Can't say I've ever been abducted by one, however I ate Taco Bell earlier. Dear god, I'm turning into one!

My post beat you to the joke. Sorry bro.

I see no strong evidence either way.

I believe there is
just we will never be in contact, at least for a while

If there are they would have killed us by now.

At least I would have.

Well the universe is a pretty big place, it would be silly for other life not to exist.

There are a few theories:

1. Aliens civilizations eventually destroy themselves (nukes, pollution, etc)

2. The universe is billions of years old, so there would be millions, possibly billions of years in technology gap.
    a. They would have already contacted us.
    b. We're not that interesting...(insects are to us as we are to them)

3. Complex life is rarer than we think.

4. Light speed is the true cosmic speed limit, no technology can surpass it, and the universe is too vast to travel across.

except we don't know that

Considering how massive the universe is, there being no aliens would be practically impossible.
Whether or not they're intelligent, have contacted us, or ever will contact us is a different story.

that reminds me of the "mars used to be like earth" theory because of our similarities

Your post was stupid and unfunny.

Ontopic, it's ridiculous to think aliens wouldn't exist. If you don't believe in aliens, you're either fat, a mexican, or both.
