IIRC That's a 2 year old with a severe physical condition that died several thousand years ago.

Contact with a biologically different extraterrestrial species would only be a medical disaster.

Remember when the Europeans arrived in the Americas? What happened? All sorts of diseases that the Europeans were already immune to devastated the natives.

Oh stuff, he's right. (Don't turn this into the "turtles" topic)

im sure a race of peoples that can reach our planet from basically anywhere else, can cure/prevent their way around a bunch of silly viruses and bacteria.
they wouldnt carry anything to catch, and they couldnt become sick from us.

A lot of people are saying that lots of planets = guaranteed life. This isn't the case.
except we already know that life does exist elsewhere, and it's just a matter of whether or not any of it has evolved enough to become intelligent (which is also likely, so at this point it's more about whether or not any of it is still intelligent)

the chance that other bi pedal intelligent life evolving separate from us is basically impossible.
its more likely that life began here, or elsewhere. and intelligent life either came/left, or planted other life on a planet.

the chance that other bi pedal intelligent life evolving separate from us is basically impossible.
why is that?

at least based on all sci fi we usually base our theories after. or all the "sightings" of aliens people have claimed.
they are way to similar to us to simply have evolved by chance elsewhere.

one of us would have come first. and then a big gap in history is lost as to how that happened lol

If we're the only ones who can advance up a stage like this and continue to grow then life has fail me completely.
We can't be the only ones. If we are, then I feel alone. If we're not, then yippee. The only thing I'd worry about is that if there is other life out there and they are at a stage where they have guns, they could possibly be more advance then ours...

other planets aren't that different from ours

When did we "know" this. The closest to knowing has been evidence that it may have once existed, at least in any research I have done.

iirc bacteria on asteroids

for all we know the bipedal model is the peak of evolution and is what works best for intelligent life

iirc bacteria on asteroids
Googling this yields:
  • A Time article where several scientists say that a particular group advocating this is stupid
  • Some information on "bacteria fossils" on meteors, which really doesn't mean anything
