Author Topic: Massive Rant 3: School and how unessesary it is (for the most part)  (Read 4416 times)

This is my rant about how schools teach unneeded things in life. I'm probably going to get a bunch of negative posts, but I just wanted to share my opinion.

When I go to school, I expect a good education, decent teachers, and other stuff like that. In math I expect the usual addition subtraction multiplication division, and algebra I guess. What we have instead is this 900x + 45b stuff that no sane human being would use in a middle class loving job. In English, I expect reading and writing assignments along with historical research and studies. What we have instead is "Duhh bluhj turn to page 803 and do some 5 page assignment that won't help you with any incoming tests" Science I can't really rant about since its just basically science, but you get my point. Most schools teach the most unessesary bullstuff that has ever been made and will never help us in an inexpensive job. I live in loving southern Delaware in the United States of America with the most dumbstuffted classmates whom will  probably never go to Yale or Some fancy college. My classmates will probably be working at a Home Depot in the appliances sections where they don't need to know x/1.75=(7.66%•16). I doubt I will either so it's basically just a waste of time. My parents didn't learn this stuff and they both own businesses without having to know these equations. All they were  taught was the standards with a bit of algebra.

All they were  taught was the standards with a bit of algebra.

while this is probably true, just teaching every generation the same thing will do nothing to further humanity at the current rate it is going.

Also the only thing i am dissatisfied with my education is that english class this year focused on just writing essays and not anything interesting like creative writing

also unnecessary has two Ns in it.

wow i think op is just really dumb and doesnt pay attention in class
look at that spelling

school in its current state is very flawed, i'll agree.

But homework is completely unnecessary.
what do we possibly have to gain from it?

because the attention span we have at school is so low, i doubt many of us actually remember what we did when we go home. homework is there to remind you what we did and to practice it so you don't forget.

Practice.
I don't think I'd know any of my subject if I didn't need to study for homework.

If you look for a decent or the best education, you would have to move out of the country since America doesn't fund its schools enough for the kids to get a good education.

Not really, you'd just need to go to a private school.

The point of school isn't learning (not all of it anyways), but it's about remembering.

Wait, I never saw the first two movies.

These aren't used in everyday life, but when you do need to do this math, you'll regret not learning it.

Wait, I never saw the first two movies.
Actually, this is the one that comes after Brotherhood and Revelations.

So that makes it number 6.

Weird.

a good teacher wouldn't find giving homework necessary.
i had a 96 average last year in advanced earth science and my (skilled) teacher never gave homework.

but as for math
giving problems is annoying and for me even deconstructive

Here's the two greatest things you can learn from school:

1) Learn how to work hard even when the work you're doing is bullstuff.
2) Learn how to interact with other humans in a comfortable manner.

Everything subject based should be learned at your own discretion. If you want to learn more about sciences, don't loving expect to be spoon-fed it in the classroom; get out there and goddamn learn science regardless of whatever the school teaches you.

You're clearly failing on the first aspect by the way. I used to bitch about school but then I realized that it doesn't matter how much I complain, there are certain things that petulance will not fix (hint: anything), and many many many things that you can't understand at whatever low double digit age you are.
