Author Topic: "Are you an Xbox or Playstation guy?"  (Read 2585 times)

This is probably the most common question I get asked when video games come up in conversation with young guys such as myself. Not simply what I play games on, mind you, which I don't believe I've ever been asked. It's always this specific question, as if there's some kind of strict dichotomy.  To these people it's as if computers have no uses outside of business and web browsing, and the entire company of Nintendo is fictitious.  Of course, if you don't completely give up bothering to converse at this point, you'll find out that they're really not quite so dense.  Damn can they make that first impression, though.

Had to share that brief rant.  How about you, BLF?  Any frustrations with public perception of video games and their associated platforms?

forget YOU, NINTENDO FOR LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFE.

Consoles are fun.

Enjoyed my Playstations 1, 2, and 3 very thoroughly. Had loads of fun playing Xbox with my friends who decided to buy both gens. I even had some laughs with the Wii at parties with people.

However with the next generation of consoles the only winning move is not to play, so I'll be staying on my PC for gaming from now until another great console is released. Luckily my friends are now old enough to respect my decision and recognize it as superior instead of saying "hurr durr PS3 has no games and pcs get viruses like stuff brother".

RIP in peace console gaming 1977-2013.

nintendo, but im leaning more to PC gaming

I'd normally say PC, but I don't have a fully functional one right now. I'll go with Playstation cause I spend all of my video game time on my PS2.

ask them to drop a DS a couple of times, then to drop a PSP a couple of times and see what happens.

They're people who live in a black and white world.

They can only like one thing for some reason and I don't understand it.
I mean, I do prefer the PS3 over the Xbox 360, but in the end it's really all about how much I'm enjoying the game.
The dashboard and avatars no longer matter to me the moment I hit that "start game" button so why does it matter what the dashboard and avatars look like?
"but the (console they needlessly hate here) controller is so uncomfortable!"
I don't understand how that. All the controllers are professionally designed to be comfortable (except for n64, nintendo was drunk. what's the third grip for, my ass?).
Yes, we all have our preferences, but they're all still comfortable to hold.
"but the community! (only console their parents could afford) has so many less little kids!"
Don't kid yourself. I know that no matter what console you play, you're running into the same kinds of people. I've had my fair share of rageaholics, trolls, squeaky children, gurlgamurz, and so on in any community. And I know fanboys of each system (including PC) fits into at least one of those categories. So yeah, you're part of the problem buddy.

Why do I prefer PS3 over Xbox 360? Because while I do enjoy playing an online game here and there, I don't do it often enough to bother paying for Xbox live. Why do I prefer PC over PS3? Because I simply prefer keyboard and mouse, and the much wider selection of games. All in all though, I could care less what system I'm playing. I care about what game I'm playing.

So am I a coke guy or a pepsi guy? Definitely Coca Cola. But I wont throw a fit if the only thing available is Pepsi.

I play video games.
I don't give a forget what system they're on. Read: My opinion is neutral, not "I don't care."
I play them.
