Sort of like a beacon, or physical object you can put down that will spawn you there, instead of your default spawnpoint(s).

I could literally make the base idea in a minute. The real problem is balancing it. Can it be damaged? Can it only be placed when you're not near anyone else? Will it respawn you with full health or just partial? Etc, etc...

Can be damaged? Yes.
Can be placed near players? Yes.
Half Health spawn? Probably a good idea

Also, could you make it so it can be moved by other players/the other team? What about when you place a new one, the old one explodes?

It can be destroyed.
The item will be removed on death.

You mean the thing that Recon class in BF3 put to spawn himself in a specific place?
