It's the color scheme. Western art has darker shades and eastern art (anime) uses bright colors.

You can be a Nintendo fanboy and not want to forget Starfox, but that's comparing apples to oranges.

A fandom dedicated to things that look like Starfox, that also shares its name with people who regularly have group love parties dressed as colorful animals is a whole different story.

I'd just like to point out that a LOT of real life pictures are too, even ads in stores. For some reason though, it just isn't as controversial, which is why the furry art is more prominent in that area.
