This is a loving problem.

A shame so very few see it as a problem.

But that's what he just said.

I would argue that <1% of the fandom actually legitimately tries to make something perfect. This means you're constantly triple-checking everything; You should be looking up references, checking proportions, checking lighting, asking yourself questions about the piece, making sure everything is proper.

it's highly meticulous and I've never seen anyone actually do it (and I watch a lot of art streams)

I believe that everyone can strive for better. But you can't be perfect, so people shouldn't always torture themselves for being imperfect. I know a lot of artists who always have the same perfectionist complex and they drive themselves to depression. It's not healthy.
*shrugs* I don't care if they reach perfection or not, they should still be trying. I can instantly tell when someone was being lazy or stupid while drawing something based on what they've drawn. It's no ones fault but your own if you half-ass your basework and skip right to whatever you think is the "fun" part. Which is what an utterly massive portion of the community does.

why

The moment you stop trying to improve, you start wasting everyone's time.

And time is finite.

So you consider that ~99% of the fandom is not fulfilling the point for actually trying.

Tak, go home, you're drunk.

if anyone's drunk it's you, this sentence makes no sense

The moment you stop trying to improve, you start wasting everyone's time.
well no. if that's an issue for you then you're the one wasting your own time

well no. if that's an issue for you then you're the one wasting your own time
striving for perfection is the very cause for improvement in society :/

Just stop already, just because some artists are inexperienced and trying to get better doesn't mean you can bash them. I can barely draw, but I'm still trying to get better. It's critics like you that always end up giving a lot of artists, who are actually trying, a whole lot of grief.

Just because some artists are inexperienced and trying to get better doesn't mean you can bash them.
This is exactly my point. They are not trying.

They are being lazy and skipping over key steps (such as looking up references and checking proportions as you go) because they do not want to do them.

This is the issue I'm talking about, not actually trying to do it and not having good results due to a lack of experience.

Nobody cares about anatomy except for Tak and you.
If you don't care about anatomy, it's because you're too lazy to learn it, and I have every right to criticize you for it.

I read this and all I think is you're forgetting some of those people people who a re trying to either work up to it/work on other bases before getting into details.

If you don't care about anatomy, it's because you're too lazy to learn it, and I have every right to criticize you for it.

Because you nitpick about it. Nobody is going to be perfect.

Hell I'm luck enough to start from this...

and get to this...

In such a short time span and little work.

Give the artists a chance and don't rub them raw.

Your problem is that you take an unrealisticly scientific and exact approach to art, as if all things are solidified under a tome of rules and regulations. God have mercy on the pour soul that shall break the code of art rules and be cast into the pits of devian- Hell.

> takato and kochie arguing about putting effort into one's art
> tfw most furries are more concerned about love appeal than anatomy

there is a difference between constructive criticism and nitpicking/being an starfish

1. "everyone should do exactly as I say, that is the right way"
2. welcome to having fun and not being overly meticulous. most people dont like whittling themselves down to a depressed wreck just trying to become good at art.

If you don't care about anatomy, it's because you're too lazy to learn it, and I have every right to criticize you for it.
don't be a douchebag.
