Then nobody else bidded....and I snatched this thing for 5 bucks.

There's a lot of fantastic artists charging 3 digit prices. And I'm one of the first people to defend them, citing the number of hours their work takes, whenever someone comes in here and bashes how "ridiculously high!!!1" their prices are.
But you can't deny there are a ton of young people in this fandom. And don't even try to deny that someone charging five dollars for that level of work is not going earn any more than a little spending money as a side hobby
