I mean people have posted badly made suits worn by people who can't perform and just kinda stand their awkwardly
And yeah that's kinda cringy
And if someone posted something like a couple suiters hugging at a con, I wouldn't be discussing it, because that's just "look at these people who like something I don't like" and you can't change people like that


But bashing people for helping and cheering up sick kids is just richardish. That's the only reason I'm here now.
If I had to make a list of "legitimate uses for an animal costume", that would be topping that list, along with things like sports mascots

I've been to parks where fursuiters were and actually seen this happen first hand. Not only are the kids absolutely thrilled, so are the parents.

They, and most likely some adults, don't know what a furry is.

to them its just a guy in an animal mascot suit (which it literally is?????!?!?) so what's wrong with petting it, just like Disneyland characters will act in character of their suit
