I think he's got a good point. Tiers are supposed to tell you what characters are better. However, what character you play as most shouldn't be determined by a list. It should be based on how you play the game. For instance, I can play as Link really well but I suck at ice climbers. Even though ice climbers is supposed to be "better" than link I can still play better as him. In fact, very few people have play styles that reflect the tiers exactly.

Saying that some characters are better than others is bullstuff. Learn how to ganondorf, scrub.

I agree with you, but what's wrong with comparing characters? Everybody has opinions, and tiers are a credible source to base your opinion on.

Nothing is wrong with comparing characters. What's wrong is when you're comparing characters and someone comes in saying "You're wrong because that goes against the tier list!"

Wait a minute...

Is the Wii U's final destination just battlefield with the three platforms removed?

this isn't photoshopped

Nintendo, you better have just removed the three platforms for video purposes

Maybe the platforms change positions every now and then

haha what
The tiers are at least slightly credible. They are based on which characters win the most tournaments, and therefore they are based on the preferences of players who win a lot of games. While it is based solely on opinion, it does hold some meaning when it comes to choosing your best character. It just shouldn't decide for you. There are no "best" or "worst" characters. Just characters that some people like more.

Regardless of that though, you should try all the characters and see which one matches your play style the best. Everyone plays differently and should have different characters to suit them.

Maybe the platforms change positions every now and then
No that's the battlefield. It's the classic smash bros map. A large platform with three small ones. Simple as that. It was just edited for video reasons. Check out the beginning of the video when the platforms are all still there.

Maybe the platforms change positions every now and then

while that would be neat it wouldn't be a new idea, if you think about it, fountain of dreams from melee was essentially just battlefield with moving platforms

They will almost certainly leave battlefield how it is while making other stages with moving platforms.

Uh, no. The tiers are based on how well the character performs in terms of aerial attacks, ground attacks, special attacks, recovery, and speed. I'm not too sure what exactly they look for in tiering, but I know for a fact it's not how many picked a character X and won.
