The 5.56mm NATO has the advantage of lessened recoil and muzzle velocity but lacks stopping power compared to the 7.62 x 39mm round. But do keep in mind that the smaller round is more prone to tumbling which can create very severe internal injuries.

The M16A2 and A4 are the same guns. The A4, however, has a detachable carry handle which facilitates attaching sights because there's a rail there. You might say, "wtf so?? i can cut off cary handel on M16A2!!" but the military needs mass production.

If you really want to make a comparison it'd be between a full auto M16 (avoiding the advantages of burst firing) and an AK74M.
