Just saying your bro most likely has game compulsion issues not an addiction but that aside.
I do know how you feel, I have a friend who's in some way similar to your brother.
My friend likes video games as much as I do and he ends up playing them ALOT, unlike me however he's gotten way to occupied on them or even the internet to do any of his schoolwork. So because he doesn't do his work his parents get pissed at him and then he get's all gloomy and basically "rains on everyone's parade" if you catch my drift. I explain to him that his gloomy attitude is due to his parents not getting mad at him for not working, but he doesn't listen and the cycle happens again and again...
I had a similar compulsion with games too where I played them too much and didn't focus on schoolwork enough and was piled with schoolwork, but that changed this year and it was freaking amazing having alot of spare time on my hands. I've even hung out more with friends this year too :)
I have no clue on how to fix your brother's problem and the only thing I can think of was deleting it :I
