[HELP] Games start up for a few seconds then it goes back to the home screen

So far if I try to go online onto Modern Warfare or Modern Warfare 2 it will go blank and go back to the home screen. If I play the games offline it works fine. Can someone help me?

I don't get it. So you are playing MW1/MW2 online, which they are supposed to. But they go to your home screen?
Also how exactly are you playing them offline when they are meant to be played online anyway. Singleplayer I guess? What about singleplayer with internet connection, what does that do?

I tried a method of turning off the internet, then turning it on while the game was in offline mode and working. I tried going online through the MW2 Multiplayer menu, but then it went back to the home screen.
