Computers aren't all about apps, also, if you use wine you can use the same programs you use on windows. There's actually no difference, except linux can't use DirectX because nvidia is a bitch

I currently run Windows XP, but here is a sum up.

Windows XP down : Uses less resources, making it really fast.
Windows 7 up: Wastes your PC and uses all of the resources it can, making it slow if you have stuffty specs.
