honestly OoT was one of the worst games ive ever played because it doesnt point you in the right direction enough
"go here"
well where the forget is here? thanks for giving me a 10x10 pixel square on a loving 15x15 pixel map starfish
yes I know that this was during the era of "video games are supposed to be hard" but OoT is not hard. its just repetitive.
I'm almost completely sure the game was explicit in telling you where to go. If you didn't fast forward through character dialogue and actually press C Up to listen to Navi you might've gotten a clue on where to go. There wasn't a second in OoT I got lost as a kid because Navi always told you exactly where to go. Games that have little loving signs as waypoints constantly telling you where to go are annoying and leave less work for the player, it feels like you're not even playing the game, but instead treated like an idiot who needs a big flashing diamond or some stuff to follow because your attentiveness is so low.
ANYWAY: In my opinion, the Zelda franchise is overrated. I still like them though, but I'm not friendy about them. Ocarina of Time has got to be one of the most overrated games in the history of games mainly because everyone has played it. It's a good game, and it paved the way for 3-D adventure games. To be honest, I prefer the 2-D games more. I had more fun with Link to the Past and The Oracle of Seasons/Ages than I did Ocarina of Time. Not saying I didn't enjoy Majora's Mask or Wind Waker, but rather the 2-D dungeon crawling is what Zelda was meant to be from the get go, and 3-D created a new type of game all together.
verdict: oot is overrated
2-D games are better (pick up ages/seasons on the 3ds for 5.99, you won't regret it)
wind waker was actually an awesome game
