Author Topic: Am I the only one that thinks the Legend of Zelda series is overrated?  (Read 5564 times)

Zelda is loving amazing. What the hell are you on? How DARE you critique my favorite franchise! I ought to slap you opposers with a wet hand.

reminds me about how hl2 is widely regarded as the messiah of the new era of 3d gaming when all it contains is horrible ai, clunky controls, and an overall bad experience

you had to have had played the games during their respective eras to truly appreciate the games, otherwise you're just making outworldly comparisons to other games which are wholly unfair
yeah seriously
hl2 has a cool atmosphere and all but it's really not the best loving game on the planet

Zelda overrated?

I wouldn't say overrated, I think it's mainly because it's very popular and it's made to appeal to a very wide demographic. It's not for hardcore gamers, it's a game that tells a story and has adventure elements.

My dad and step mom used to buy me zelda games just so they could play them.
EX: OoT, Majora's mask, WW, Twilight princes

Not saying it's impossible to not like the Zelda series, but to say it's overrated is like saying Meat is overrated and then becoming a vegetarian and claiming that all meat-eaters are against nature and that they should be sent to hell where they would burn for thousands of years. That's like saying that air is overrated, there's a lot of it, and you need it to survi-

Just kidding. I just love the Zelda series, it has a nice story, and I love playing them in contrast to the shooter spam and DLC games that get released now days.

That's what I thought too :c
Compared to contemporary Zeldas, sure. Back then they felt perfect.

Also, since this thread is about zelda games.

Might I add a opinion; Skyward Sword was a disappointment. There, I said it.
Compared to the previous console zeldas with hyrule field or the ocean as their hub world, skyward sword's hub world consists of 3 sub worlds. That's it.
Compare that to OoT.

i think all of nintendo is overrated.

Let me add on to your skyward sword opinion. Only 3 items were used throughout the game instead of in one dungeon only, the antagonist was as generic as it gets, and the art style was... strange.

and the art style was... strange.
What are you talking about? The watercolour style was amazing.

I've only played Minish Cap, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword.

I thought all 3 were pretty great. They have little-to-no replay value whatsoever though.
You have to have patience and some sort of learning capacity to play these games without getting bored of it quickly.

Video game companies that have been around for a long while are obviously going to have a large amount of fans.
Alot of people liking something alot =/= overrated.

don't feel bad, I didn't really like it that much compared to other games either

I thought OoT was amazing. Well I got to the part where I turn into an adult. I thought I beat the game haha

i think OoT is overrated. tbh i think TP >>>> OoT..
nintendo as a whole is overrated to an extent. they make the same games over and over again with nothing new. weird how COD gets massacred for this but when nintendo does it no one cares. but hey, the games are still fun. just nothing i would want to buy a new console for.

am I the only one afraid to play MM
lol
