ok, so there is something weird going on. i'm trying to get the glass effect for windows 8. i have heard that it is no longer there, which you can see in this screenshot. i can still change the colors of the bar, but no transparency.



however, once i switch to the earth desktop theme, the bar becomes transparent, and i can see the background through it. i know that my current desktop background from the first image is not too small, because i have tried this with many images. it even happens with other default packs. the only one that does this glass effect is the earth theme, and it does it for every picture in the pack. the automatic coloring doesn't have anything to do with it, it only makes the bar the color that is in the majority of the picture or some other complicated thing, i don't even know.

I've never used Windows 8, but I think Nal is right on this one.

i kinda like the improvments. just not the fan of how they changed the programs folders and installations a bit.
or that stupid new UI desktop for touch screen launching. what a waste.

also no one should be using XP anymore unless its just an ancient comp that you browse with. a normal gaming comp shouldnt want that.
xp dosnt have the drivers for modern hardware. or the updated direct X.
it was fine to use just 2 years ago even. but its aged and less supported by more and more hard/software now.

Everything else are improvements. Faster boot times, faster everything it seems.

If you look closely at that bar there is transparency. You can see some rocks. The issue is that your image is very dark and has low contrast near the bottom

Windows Personalization menu is loving terrible in my opinion. When I used to have my old AMD Card, the theme use to change to classic, and I would have to do a series of random theme changes to get the bar back to it's original Glassy look. I generally think all of Windows is stuff but that's my opinion.
