Author Topic: At what age should kids be allowed to play M-Rated games?  (Read 3710 times)

my dad let me play halo 2 when I was like 10 or something. we played it together and it was fun.

my mom let me buy GTA IV when I was like 12-13 because she understand that I won't make stupid decisions in life

it all depends on the child. but a rating system is stupid imo.

i get more pissed with competitive games than forget-around games
doesn't even matter what the rating is

oh wow i've completely forgotten that game ratings are a thing until this thread

The world would be a better place if children knew about it before they were forced into it.

Let's see,
10 for DOOM
12 for Half Life, Halo, and TES
13 for Fallout, Just Cause, and Left 4 Dead
14 for TF2, CoD, and CSS
16 at the minimum for GTA and Saint's Row

13 for fallout but not for Cod and TF2?

Fallout can be an emotionally scarring game for young kids and it has so many dark themes that they dont even understand but you think they can play not before cod?

I started playing rated M games at around 3 or 4. My parents did not care at all as long as I was smart enough to not imitate it.

If it's multiplayer, then play it at 10 or older, as long as you don't have a mic.

this is all i have to say

My mom never really cared too when I was growing up since she knew I wouldn't decide to do dumbass stuff when I am an adult

the problem is that we got slim shady and the discovery channel

I've played tons of crazy games even at a young age, and I'm able to handle it easily because I know the differences between the real world and the video game, and that I know the consequences in the real world if I were to somehow manipulate actions from video games with violent content.

This rating crap is pointless and not many people even bother to use it.

I didn't own M rated until I got my Xbox 360.

My dad threatened to return BF3 on me hahaha.

You cannot buy an M rated game in America until you're 17.
Nearly all my games are M.

I'm also 4 months away from 17 :D

You have to have a parent with you when you buy M games, at least in my area.

Steam FTW

parents choose if they can play it or not.
