Author Topic: Nations at War - Closing Time!  (Read 252768 times)

Doesn't matter but the AM accepts the pact.

Slevokxian research personal are evacuated from Antarctica along with the various planes being stored.

Facilities are to be decommissioned momentarily.

If the products are monitored, Can we claim 15 km² square plots of land for communities such as housing, power plants and small factories for keeping things self sufficient?  Like if I were to create goods, if there are no goods leaving Antarctica, but just trading between communities.  Civilian Research Allocation Plot (CRAP) - Yes, I am aware of this acronym.  We need some silliness in this thread anyways.

For instance, if I have a factory that produces safety goggles in Country A's CRAP, if Country B wanted safety goggles for its CRAP, then can we trade so long as no goods leave Antarctica?

I think CRAPs should be limited to no production, leaving Antarctica a bit of a hub for importation and occasional trade among nations in the Pact.  I do like the I do like the idea of CRAPs though, definitely.

Better than studying at the Scientific Health Institute of Technology.

I like the idea of CRAPs, but personally, I think that CRAPs could be used to create internal trade within networks of CRAPs, making the Antarctic community somewhat self-sufficient.  Naturally the production would have to not harm the environment, and all waste must be disposed of very carefully.  No products produced in CRAPs should leave the Antarctic at all.  Tariffs between CRAPs should be not allowed, and selling based on any discrimination should not be allowed.  The only additional charges should be those that are super-expensive shipping, processing and handling.

Just an idea.  I would like to just put that idea forward, so that prices can be kept low with domestic Antarctic trade.

I think that housing should be kept as claimed land, but be limited to certain sizes, and it would be claimed jointly by whoever nation's researchers live there.  No taxes should be levied, and all proceeds from rent be put directly back into research or into bettering service quality or to building more facilities in CRAPs.

As for power plants, I think that power should be clean (no, not even nuclear), and be kept internal to a CRAP and its nearby research station(s).

Utah agrees with the AC's proposal and begins seeing up solar panels and constructing wind turbines in their designated land zone.

You know there's like 3 months of light in the Antarctic?

Anyways, Erinaum begins to plan out a port off shore and begins to ship large pontoons so that a several-mile-long pontoon road can connect the shore with ships docking way out at sea.

Ok, so we will set our energy budget only to the power generated by the wind turbines, and then the solar panels will give us 3 months of bonus power!  Huzzah!

Lol wtf the clean energy idea is horrible. It would be so much easier to just have gas powered generators with backup wind turbines or something.

The point is to not harm the ecosystem with byproducts.

I think Miko has a good point.  Green energy is wildly inefficient and often fails to be cost effective.
It's probably either Miko's idea or we all power Antartica with bicycle generators.

pick one.

get the penguins to do it

Utah could create a massive wire and run it from the southern tip of South America across the ocean to Antarctica.  Ba da bing ba da boom.  Then we exchange that energy fir other useful research materials on Antarctica :)
