Author Topic: Why do people hate camping? (Defensively and Effectively)  (Read 3732 times)

Well earlier today I was playing build-and-shoot (A copy of the old ace of spades) and I was on some server called "Minit Assault Server" and it was actually pretty good, so I built a wall and proceeded to defend our base, and yes, I "camped" and got some kills out of it and made sure people didn't get through

And then I got banned.
Why do people hate camping so much even though it's pretty much what you're supposed to do?

EDIT;
Sorry for making two topics in one day - woops.

"it's a legitimate tactic!" for autistic starfishs. it basically singly represents to most people sacrificing whatever fun there may have been about the game, to the exclusion of everyone else, just because you're a richardbag and want to win so hard that you want everyone else to actively suffer.

it's basically just a cheap strategy in video games.

woahwoahwoahwoah
how do people suffer?
just because i and two other people are defending our intel, and all the others are after the other team's intel who are trying to get ours, suddenly we're autistic starfishs?

I can see how some people can use it that way.

camping gear is too expensive and there are too many bugs

It's all the damn mosquitoes everywhere and the fact that when it rains the ground gets all muddy and water starts seeping into your tent.
Also good luck taking a shower, and cleaning up after meals is a bitch when it is cold out.

You can actually get some pretty well priced gear, and generally the more money you throw at camping gear, the less money efficient you are being.

The people who complain about camping are the ones who suck at flanking. When I use to play Call of Duty I would charge sniper camps and flush them out with grenades and then kill the rest with my m60 machine gun. Only to get killed by some guy with a submachine gun.

When you camp, you turn the genre into a point and click adventure game

it takes forever to set the tent up and it could be raining so there might be floods

It's a legitimate tactic to win.

But it also depends on what game your playing too. Camping in more "arcade style" games, if you will, like CoD is usually a richard move but I don't see a problem if you are defend and objective.

In Battlefield's Rush or Conquest modes or Planetside 2, if your bitching about camping, especially when you're the one who's assaulting something then your pretty much handicapped because that is the most effective way to hold an objective.

When snipers are camping, it is usually due to the fact that in almost every single level of every single FPS game there is not enough room to be able to properly play a sniper.

When other people are effectively camping it is because the map was designed in a way that made a certain place well defensible and no one on the opposing team knows how to properly assault the position.

Most of the time though, when people are camping it is because they suck and the reason why you don't like it is because you suck too.

Because you're sitting in the corner with an insta-kill weapon. Being able to camp is usually a sign of a defective game.

It depends what map you are on on conquest. If you are on something like Operation Metro, then sure camping is effective, but if you are on a map like Caspian Border then camping won't do much and will just stop you from getting as many kills as you might be able to.

There's a fine line between camping and defending. Camping is stuff like spawn trapping and sitting in a corner shooting everything.

Defending is building/waiting in a position that is easily defendable on an objective. Control points in TF2 are a good example of this. But unless the game is being exploited (ex:Bad maps, OP weapons) camping shouldn't be an issue because there should be a way to flank.

well sometimes snipers sit in the same spot for days and days until they get the perfect shot
so idk whats wrong
