lol i would take its quality level design over dooms stuffty left and right turns in a boxy room any day. you just only have a boner for games that look like stuff or something because there is literally no way you can justify doom is more advanced and better then modern shooters.
CoD's level design is quality? what the forget are you smoking and where the forget did you get it? have you even played Doom? there's a hell of a lot more going on than "left and right turns in a boxy room," not to mention the player actually has the ability to move the forget around instead of walk down a straight line of scripted bullstuff that the game's "writers" want the player to move down. you're completely right, doom must be a bad game because it doesn't loving force you to do what the developers want you to do, how loving terrible! let's keep moving forwards in the direction that masterpieces of cinematic storytelling and innovative gameplay like CoD show us by restricting player freedom and not actually letting them play a game by designing environments instead of levels and putting in a whole bunch of paths and stuff to make it look more real but simultaneously not letting the player move there. loving amazing, really, it's the pinnacle of modern level design and truly a goddamn masterpiece.
Doom sure as hell isn't more advanced in terms of aesthetics and stuff, but CoD's level design is just moving backwards.
not to mention cods campaign has options as to what you can do instead of just running in t he fight head on.
yeah, like press the overly-context sensitive Use button and watch any variety of short cutscenes shown from the player's perspective to make them feel like they're doing something when they're really not.
this is also handicapped, every enemy acts differently and does different things. who the forget cares if they dont all look like handicapped devil monsters from the 1900s? have you ever played rainbow six? lost planet 2? anything besides that piece of crap that went out of style years ago?
Brilliant, you argue about the actual art direction instead of the variety of said art direction.
But yeah, CoD's enemy variety is staggering. Between all the Jenerikstan insurgents wielding assault rifles throwing the odd grenade at you and playing the same "lifelike" dive-rolling animation over and over and uh....well stuff, they all look the same from a distance so it doesn't even matter.
I've played Raven Shield, which is probably the last true Rainbow Six game.
