No it doesn't. Blender only requires unique object names.
User Preferences > Editing > Duplicate Data: > Uncheck Material (and preferably Texture as well) > Save User Settings
Then change the materials on the left object to the original ones. Don't rename. Change.
I'm not 100% sure but I don't think it will.

Thanks, it worked.

How do I lock one vertex to the same axis as another vertex? Like, make the two vertices be in a direct line on any given axis that I choose. I know it's possible, I just forgot how to do it.

Change the snapping mode (Bottom bar of the viewport next to a magnet) to vertex and while grabbing press X, Y, or Z on your keyboard and hover over another vertex.

Hey, thanks a lot for helping me. I'm sure everyone here appreciates what you're doing for us.

No problem. I visit these forums several times every day and I have used Blender long enough to be familiar with the interface but I still remember how difficult Blender was when starting out. I might as well help others.

Although I won't be able to visit the forums daily for the next 6-12 months because I'm going to the army.

I tried creating a brick add-on but the blockland console says it's an invalid size, and the brick is invisible and basically doesn't exist.

Should probably bump this.

I'm getting partially wire frame for a model I'm making when I open it in blender 2.49. I've checked the legacy mesh thingy and some faces show properly, What's going on?

http://www.pasteall.org/blend/26523 for the file.

You most likely have ngons. Each face must consist of 3 or 4 vertices only in 2.49. 5, 6, or more verts per face are not possible so those faces are not read. A quick way to check if this is true is to select your whole mesh and press ctrl + t to triangulate it. Then save with legacy and open in 2.49. It should work.

It's a few years late but I finally wrote a guide on how to install the Blender DTS Exporter: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=238465.msg6795645

Your so boss.

How to I package Models as bricks?

Phew, not too old yet.

So is this thread viable to ask small questions about most Blender issues with a quick reply?

That's the entire point of the thread.
