Author Topic: Because I can't spend money online...  (Read 4585 times)

Mate, if i get money i will gift it asap because no one deserves to be treated loke a 5 year old when they are 17.

Man, I do the same thing even though my parents don't give a stuff about what I do. When opening doors that are bound to squeak you can apply an upward/downward pressure from to the knob, 95% of the time it pretty well completely eliminates the squeak!
I know, right? Yay physics!

See, I've already done this for free games in the past, so I have gotten pretty good at a few things:

- Knowing when and when not to play, and being very discreet about doing so.
- Knowing when someone is coming in the room by keeping the volume low and staying attentive.
- Knowing how to quickly switch desktops/applications when I do hear someone approaching.
THE FEELS. I do the exact same thing! Except not for video games, but for Pronz.

Also, they don't know what it is; if worst comes to worst, I'll just tell them it's some weird game I found, "delete" it, and then remove from trash/re-download it later.
What I do is to create a folder named "Trash" and change its icon to the trash bin. Put your steam folder in there instead of the default Program Files x86 folder.

Just talk to them.
Instead of just getting treated like you're 5, do something about it.

I second this.

I'm 16 and my parents used to do this kind of stuff but I slowly just started buying games from their credit card without permission, and they eventually became fine with it as long as I paid them back.

Holy flippin' muffin stacks, I don't need everyone on the forum to buy me a single game, lol...

Anyway, while I, for the most part, agree with what y'all are saying, it's not that easy. Beleive me, I've tried talking to them about allowing certain games and such, but they're still pretty adamant. And because I am still only 17 and living under their roof, I'm not going to just openly rebel against them. That's a sure fire way to get all computer privelages taken away from me for who knows how long, and probably my iPod too (which is what I do 99% of my forum posts on).

And by all means, I'm glad you're concerned about my freedom to do what I wish, but really, I don't feel like I'm being treated like I'm five. I just feel a bit over-protected sometimes.

Also, I never expected this thread to go this direction. Maybe I should change the title to, "Why won't my parents let me ________."

- Some kinds of art
- Some kinds of music
- Anything that could be created digitally, within reason and by ability to create it. Just ask.
Stick to selling art online. Selling other stuff online is a slippery slope that ends in VerticalHorizon.

Jesus, I know exactly how you feel.

when I was a kid my time was limited to 1 hour and only on weekends. I didn't even know the password to my own computer.

After 7 hours pass I would be playing BL on the edge of my bloody nerves, sound muted, typing the keyboard super quietly and carefully, and dude my index finger was a loving AIMBOT when it came switching the monitor button...
And it wouldn't end there. I would have a random book opened infront of me so that I looked like I was working...

Luckily my parents don't give a stuff anymore

Get a debit card then. Basically just a card that pays out directly from a bank account. All you have to do is keep like $100 or more in the account to avoid penalties.
Get a bloody gift visa pre-paid card.
y u no

Already suggested and rejected, unfortunately. Read the past few pages if you wanna see that discussion.

Man then why are you whining.

That's probably the only way other than getting a steam gift card buddy.

Who said I was whining? I'm pretty sure offering to work for something isn't whining. It's not like I just said, "sombody by me gmod cuz I don't hav munny and my parents wont let me by it". Anyway, I've already had three people offer to buy it for me; and I asked none of them. I'm even willing to still do something for them in return, if I can.
