Author Topic: Do you think we should increase funding for NASA?  (Read 9552 times)

also note that for most purposes, this is a crock of horsestuff. space is a non-issue, the only possible shortage in anyone's foreseeable future is fresh water usage.
fossil fuel
trees too
I didn't even say it was gonna happen during our lifetimes
we wouldn't be able to find a suitable planet within that time anyway

if you're not using any kind of meangingful timeline, then saying "we're running out of stuff" is redundant, we're always running out of stuff.

a timeline wouldn't change anything because then we'd still have been running out of stuff anyway
we are running out of stuff and we are eventually not going to have that stuff, so we need somewhere to get that stuff, and there's nothing wrong with planning ahead

Although this is true, if the Earth runs out of resources or gets too polluted for life, we will die off. Just like any other extinct species.

They can't really do that. Sure they can look at Exoplanets and Asteroids, but if an Asteroid was coming towards Earth they wouldn't be able to do anything.

save for the fact that without a meaningful timeline, literally all stuff is going to run out because there are finite reachable materials in the universe anyways. you have to set times.

you know wtf I mean tho
don't be difficult

The president of NASA literally just said "pray". I think it's pretty scary when a man of science thinks praying can stop an Asteroid.

yeah well it's kinda hard to develop counter asteroid measures when, you know, you have no funding

i don't think you're really doing well here, you may want to step outside. he doesn't literally think praying can stop an asteroid, it's because someone would look to someone of his position for guidance, and he can either say "we're probably all going to die a fiery death", or, "pray for a miracle".

oh i just realized the religious connotation

yeah believe it or not scientists can be religious

shocker

Im sorry what was that about NASA not doing anything about Asteroids?

They are very much aware of the threat that space rocks pose, but they don't have the funds to make anything to deal with it.
