Author Topic: my school is going to use 3d printing  (Read 8545 times)

so my technology teacher mrs. tacner used to teach at the nearby university(university of nevada, reno), which has a 3d printer.

she says later in the year we are going to print our own rings, which we can design and stuff.

what should i put on my ring?

im thinking something related to gaming, or movies.

depends on what kind size of the ring.

Make one with a blockland logo.

Oh thats really cool. I had just put an order in for a personal 3d printer. I'm going to print a Blockhead out for my first Print :)

You're lucky. I wish I could have a Blockhead action figure.

If its a Z-corp printer yeah you can get it colored. But chances are you're going to get basic white. If thats the case get some paints and get creative :)

How do you do that if the hands/legs float?

make pegs in the arms, hands, legs, and pants.

use transparent plastic to print rectangles that can fit in the pegs

i think

i don't mean to derail but

i do service learning at a library with 3d printers

what do i print? it prints in one color

it's a makerbot replicator 2

make a model of your face

I'll probably end up using bendy bread-ties to pose the blockhead, take two photos with the blockhead in the shot and a blockhead not in the shot, overlap the two layers, then erase the bread ties in a photo editing program. :)

If you bring your own spools of print material or if you're allowed to use larger amounts, check out thingiverse.com for things to print!

Theres a motorized glados ceiling lamp that is really cool.

pretty sure unless i made some sort of solid block of plastic, it's not going to cost anything
else it'll cost a dollar or two

nothing on thingiverse has intrigued me so far
