Author Topic: my school is going to use 3d printing  (Read 8088 times)

not gonna brag or anything but i've got a 3D printer right beneath me

it's not a cheep forgeter either, it's one of the best 3D printers because the print resolution is so small

It sounds so complicated. What material do you use to print these 3D models out?
it's really just putting drops of plastic then putting a drop of plastic on the drop of plastic and repeating until it looks like a model.

Make the ring hollow and hide something in it.

i want to print a ring with the B logo on it

How much did you pay for yours?

Plastic solutions. Either ABS or PLA

ABS is the traditional plastic found in legos. An extruder heats up to hundreds of degrees to draw it out into a liquid form layer by layer.

PLA is the same except more eco friendly and plant based.

You can upload any kind of model to a 3d printer as long as it is scaled to the print bed. Doesn't matter if it has overhangs because the software automatically builds support grids to hold them up.

my dad paid for it but it was around £15,000 or more

£15,000??? I find that to just be absurd.

Its probably a real high end kind.

I would sooner spend £15k on a dog rather than on a 3D printer. lol
