Author Topic: Does Microsoft still own the rights to XP?  (Read 2263 times)

but the fact that it's still a viable operating system 12 years after its release is a credit to its adaptability
Adaptability which will only go on for so long before drivers and software will stop providing support for XP.

Well this escalated quickly.

I'd expect nothing less from you, BLF. <3

sure it won't last forever without updates and support, but it's still managed to keep up for 12 years and was only surpassed as the most used version of windows in august 2012 when windows 7 finally overtook it 3 years after it came out

windows 2000 died off from popular use a while ago and it was only a year older than xp, and windows 98 was abandoned by most people almost immediately after 2000 and xp came out

All I see in Kearn's posts is that he wants to suck XP's richard and willing to write walls of text to explain why. He's derailing the entire topic for a stupid purpose.

Networking.
my dad absolutely hates the networking on vista/7 because of how dumbed down it is

I used to use windows xp and changed from that to 7
XP was actually pretty fast it just took slightly longer to open programs

I don't recall XP having an Index for searching like vista and windows 7 did, which made searching for files a lot faster than without an index.
XP wasn't good at all.

dumb

the biggest post i made in this thread was 9 sentences, try a book

XP was trash, people thought so at the time, even more so before SP2, so I don't know why anyone would willingly use it.  Really the only reason it was ever popular was because XP was the only usable OS out there for like 6 years.  Of course MS still has the rights to it, why would ending support change that?  If you really want a free OS capable of everything XP is (plus it actually loving works more often), use WINE on Linux.

I'm seeing all this hate for Windows XP...

I thought I was all alone.

Kearn's said nothing wrong.

XP is still a popular OS.

Searching for things on XP was a pain in the ass. I loathed using XP.

Someone doesn't know how to search~

I swear, you guys are like teachers sending Kearn to the principle's office when he's done nothing wrong.

I agree with Kearn that XP was an amazing operating system, and even though it didn't have the greatest looks, I still loved it.

If I had a choice between Vista, Windows 8, or XP, I would go with XP.

It's still loving stupid to derail the topic.

Ack, it's the Blockland Forums. That stuff can happen from one single person anyday.

I would consider not being able to accept others' opinions and being a richard about it something wrong.
