Author Topic: Has Blockland lost it's value since the removal of interiors and maps?  (Read 9289 times)

lol yes it has brought it down

the lack of quality servers and players now is so low that I get bored of blockland when I see it on my desktop

Here we see the esteemed veteran Blockland user Spartan 317 voicing his thoughts on how the removal of such a key feature in a sandbox building game has been removed, causing creativity in the community to come to a grinding halt.

I kinda want to bang my head into a bloody pulp paste every time these come up.

OP, you REALLY have no excuse for bringing this topic up like many a BLder has done in the General Discussion. Whether legitimate questioning nor trolling, you, like many others, need to stop with these. All you're doing is encouraging the worst of the community, and mind you, you're not going to get a straight answer AT ALL. At this point, this isn't even your topic anymore. The loudest amongst us have more or less threadjacked this unfortunately.

Look, I don't want to seem like the typical angry Blder here. I just want to not be reminded of issues people can't seem to find a solution towards. Because in the end, NO ONE benefits from this besides making the community more or less unappealing towards newbies.

Caribou, I know you miss the old days, and to an extent I can sympathize with that. However, I don't really get what this is supposed to accomplish. Quit responding to people on the thread, hell just lock it already and let it fade into obscurity. Might as well at the very least make room for more of these identical threads in the future in terms of front page estate.

Just remember this: Don't think of laziness as a means of denial towards creativity. Think of it as a way to prove your determination/insanity. There are so few successful AND creative people because things like laziness help root out the muck for the best possible quality out of the pool.

I have no idea how this can relate to you. It's 1 in the morning and I'm tired. However, I might as well get this off my mind at least once and provide an answer that isn't solely based on how my perception must mean others have the same perception of an issue as I do. We're always going to be split on this issue I feels, so I might as well try to alleviate some of the stress and temptation of responding to these.

So...... yeah. Have fun kiddies. I'm hitting the hay.

but blockland isn't a platform i go to to ONLY see amazing, sprawling, time-consuming builds. sometimes i want to hop in a slopes server with some simple item spawns/bases and have a dogfight, or go skiing, or explore the kitchen, or find secrets on GSF's various GTA maps.

granted, since the removal of terrains and interiors, we've seen a lot more interesting gamemodes, although it's hard to determine what that's a result of.

I personally think that BL gained value since the removal of interiors and maps. Although it removed may beloved maps such as Bedroom and Slopes, it also added Shadows and Shaders and gave BL a chance to improve upon. So I think the removal was actually needed.

I just thought about it, and another problem is that we are a bit too reliant on add-on's. I think another way to up the value of Blockland itself is for more essential things like tools, vehicles, and more brick sizes/measurements to be default.

V22: add-ons removed

V23: we've removed building to make the code simpler. blockland is also being renamed to "paint eachother land".

Can you build mountains with bricks that are easily traversable by vehicles?

why badspot needs to fix vehicles :D

Well vehicular physics. I think block terrain looks so much better compared to the old terrains as they look authentic, original, and very clean and fresh. I thought about another thing too, maybe the VCE eventing system could be a bit more simplified and easier to use.

I think this is a new chapter for us, since we're now on Steam!

We all still forget that we've gotten hours of entertainment out of a game for $20.

i don't think a modern game in active development should be giving people nostalgia

...and also what
blockland was not always a modern game, and when I said the newest modern warfare, we put in the most mainstream edgy graphics with shadows the Torque engine could handle.

We also got a speed kart game-mode which is hell of easy to make and a demolition game-mode no one plays anymore.

i don't understand how maps were the most buggiest thing in the game. vehicles are the most buggiest thing ever in the game.

v22 changelog:
removed vehicles

I love this game and spend all my free time on it.
