op sucks at making them

What is Serious Sam?
The Serious Sam games, developed by Croteam and published by Devolver Digital (for the majority of games) are a glorious throwback to the golden age of first-person shooters where men were men, cover was for amateurs and pulling the trigger made things go boom. Go to war against Mental's Horde, including the Beheaded Kamikaze, Gnaar, Sirian Werebull and many more. Use destructive weapons against them: featuring a Minigun, Sniper Rifle, a goddamn portable cannon, and many more. The series also features up to 16-player co-op and versus modes, featuring Classic Co-Op, Deathmatch, and other gamemodes in the more recent titles.

Plot
The game takes place in a late 21st century, where mankind is on the verge of economical collapse, until archeologists discover a civilization older than the Egyptians, known as the Sirians. The profound scientific implications of this discovery leads mankind to the far reaches of the universe. Everything seemed perfect.

But perfect never lasts.

In 2104, humanity is attacked by a chaotic horde of marauding aliens, lead by 'Notorious Mental' (or 'Tah-Um' by his army and 'The One Infinite' by the Sirians). Humankind fights valiantly, but nothing can stop Mental's Horde from coming. Earth's forces are defeated one by one, from Alpha Centauri to their own solar system, and troop morale is low. The only man that can keep that morale high is Sam 'Serious' Stone, a living legend who can defeat 1,000 monsters with his bare hands. He is wounded countless times, but never defeated. But Sam cannot be everywhere, and Earth is now under direct attack.

In desperation, the world leaders turn to their last chance: an ancient artifact called the 'Time-Lock' left by the Sirians, which is believed to be a time machine, allowing a single person to be sent back in time. This is their only chance for survival.

If only they knew how to turn it on...

So how is Serious Sam 3? I had a 90% off coupon, and considered buying it for a bit. Is it actually worth my time or no?

I highly recommend it. It's very much like the original except 'modern' elements like ADS, sprinting and reloaded have been added. Multiplayer is still somewhat active. It's also my second favorite series in the game. Also get the gold edition if the coupon lets you.

comic SAAAAANS

anyway the serious sam line of games do look pretty cool

Why would anybody vote for classic over HD?

I prefer the second encounter, Bigger and more varied areas.

Skull Candy would. Serious Engine 3 does not feature cool gravity effects while Serious Engine 1 does, was his reason.
Alot of other people prefer it for the nostalgia too.

It's nice to have annoying bloom in my face in HD: TSE (not an insult, the graphics rock), but I'm not a graphics-whore-bastard. I enjoy Classic a lot, and it had some things that HD didn't. First of all, the night sky looks a lot better. In HD, it looks dull as stuff. Second of all, GRAVITY TRICKS! Finally, I just feel more powerful in Classic. I don't know if it's the vintage graphics or sounds, I just feel powerful... but that's just how I feel. I would say nostalgia, but that doesn't really count.

Second Encounter is also my favorite.

And where did the snowdrops in Land of the Damned go in HD :(

I'm not taking any sides here, I've never played any of them, but I just felt like pointing out your hypocrisy when you state you aren't a "graphics-whore-bastard", then your first reason why classic is better is because the night sky looks a lot better.

the next encounter was my first ss game and is my favourite

Well I really mean "feels" better. I know, I know, I could have phrased that better.
