Author Topic: AdBlock is raising money to advertise itself  (Read 4610 times)

I think that Adblock Plus should be the one doing this. At least they are supporting non-intrusive advertising, rather than just blocking everything.

since when was adblock plus and normal adblock different?

I can't see them actually getting any advertisers to actually go along with this. It would lose them business as well as bring some, if not most ad-dependent websites down.

Adblockers are actually a pretty stuffty idea. I want an ad-blocker that blocks intrusive ads/video ads only. (with the ability to allow inclusions)

Guys you know you can allow ads on certain websites, right?

i only have adblock to promote system security

the number of times i see an ad that seems shady as hell, and i'd much rather block the div from opening to begin with, is too many to count. it's a massive problem with ad.fly. if all of their ads didn't seem more virus laden than a thai hooker, i might take it off.

But the point is, people won't.

If you honestly use adblock please stop. It only hurts the content creators.

Adblock (Chrome) is the worse version Adblock Plus
From my experience Adblock (Chrome) doesn't work as well and has always been begging for donations.

I don't think he understands how bad of an idea this is. Ads are part of what makes the internet go 'round, without them a lot of services might stop being free. The more people who are in the dark about adblocking, the better off we all are.
The exact thing I said when I saw this. The general public should not know about Adblock.

I've never had any problems

This is true, though honestly the little blurb at the bottom of the settings isn't very intrusive

The new one advertising this campaign however that takes up a good third of the menu, is somewhat annoying

What the forget?

Seriously, what the flying stuff?

I'm trying to comprehend the thinking here, but words cannot be formed.

AdBlock is a great thing.

Those who deny it are too naive and think that being a youtuber is a real job.

People make a living based on not only the monetization of their YouTube videos, but the merchandise, and other crap they sell. Businesses bring in new customers with advertising, massive amounts of websites probably pay for their existence with advertising, advertising can alert the consumer to a better deal or to a product they didn't know existed.

Blocking out advertising is naive.
