Author Topic: Help me on my religion project by awnsering 4 quesions.  (Read 7175 times)

Thanks for all the responses so far guys. I didn't expect to get this many :D

1. As modern religion defines it, no. But there could possibly be a god in which we cannot define. We're not at the scientific level to prove or disprove an unknown kind of higher power.
2. Faith is what people turn to in times of worry or doubt. Many people would turn to god for comfort, which I have no problem with.
3. Well I used to go to a moderate Lutheran church, where we were taught not to take the Bible literally and to take lessons from it. Later, I started thinking on my own, and came to the conclusion that I don't really need a god.
4. Well knowing that life as we know it (carbon-based) is special, so knowing that Earth life is special on a certain scale makes life worth livable.

Also, anti-theists are the worst people ever. Don't hate other people because they're different.

Age 16

1. Yes. But the first question is phrased weird, why does God exist? Because he does I guess? Why do I believe he exists? Well that's question 3 isn't it?

2. being the SuperChristian that I am, I'd quote the Bible's definition. Being sure of what you hope for, and certain of what you cannot see. In Christianity, faith (in God at least) is seen as the choice to believe in God, and that he's going to do what he says he will in spite of circumstances.

3. For one thing I grew up in a Christian household, a couple years ago my dad became a pastor as well. But before then, I had doubts of my own and did some research. Trying to be open to the idea that God doesn't exist and that Christianity was wrong. But in all my reading about various religions and about the alternatives to human origins (namely cosmic and biological evolution,) none of them seemed to really have much solid, concrete things to back them up. For most viewpoints there were a few things that seemed to point in a direction saying that they were right, but nothing concrete that couldn't be looked at a second way. In my opinion, the Christian views of God seemed to be the most realistic, as odd as that may sound to some people.
So I continued with my walk with Christianity and eventually I had some spiritual experiences that don't seem like they can be explained scientifically, making my belief just about permanent.

4. As a Christian the only reason I believe people are here in the first place is to love others and to love God. So I do that, enjoy life, and do my best to be a good example. So far it seems to be working out pretty well for me.

Remember, extremists are friends.

1. Does God exist? why or why not? - yes, because if there was no god then we couldnt have been here. I don't think any other explination makes sense
2. What is faith? - faith is having hope in something.
3. What has led you to believe or to doubt? Why? - i believe that there is a god because something had to have created us and if that god created monkies and they evolved into people then i guess that's what happened but you never know.
4. What makes your life meaningful/ worthwhile? - my woman

these are my beliefs and i have freedom of belief

Because only religion has it extremists.

and where does god come from

1. god does not exist because he does not exist - there is no proof
2. faith is to have hope for a god, humanity, or even just the future "i have faith in humanity"
3. my family is quite atheist but they let me see the world and i have determined that god does not exist
4. video games, hope for humanity's future, and simply existing.

im sorry if my post offends anyone

and where does god come from
well what with the other explinations... where did the other stuff come from? god was always there.

1. Does God exist? why or why not?
No because no proof.
For all who think this, take this quote into consideration.
Quote
Lie #1. If I cannot see God, it must mean He is not here.

:D

1. Does God exist? why or why not?
He very well does, because there are clear signs. I cook, right, and before I serve food I always taste test. After praying for my food, the flavor always seems to have enhanced significantly compared to the taste test.
There's also been times where I have asked God for help and he has always answered in some way.

All wrong-doings can be forgiven, all but one: Not believing in God.

2. What is faith?
Faith is belief in or of something.

3. What has led you to believe or to doubt? Why?
My grandparents helped me, I used to visit a lot and go to church with them every other weekend.

4. What makes your life meaningful/ worthwhile?
Being imperfect. If everyone can do everything perfectly, then there would be no difference between people.
For example, if everyone could draw like this:

There'd be no difference in anyone's skill. Therefore life would be very boring and no one would have more skill in something than another.
Imperfection is the only reason we still exist today, if we couldn't improve ourselves or the world then we would have no purpose.

that's because you are getting better at cooking that thing every time you cook it, i dont pray to the food god and my food gets a more enhanced flavor every time i cook it
and the spices etc could have settled in after finishing

you ever heard of coincidences?

Read the whole post next time, I said the taste was better after I prayed than before I served the food.

i don't even know where to start with this topic
