Author Topic: Help me on my religion project by awnsering 4 quesions.  (Read 7195 times)

If you're over 13, and don't mind awnsering 4 quesions on religion, then please help me.
I will need your age(If you really don't want to say your age then thats fine). The quesions are:

1. Does God exist? why or why not?
2. What is faith?
3. What has led you to believe or to doubt? Why?
4. What makes your life meaningful/ worthwhile?

It's ok If you have diffrent belief's, please don't start a arguement/war anyone.
And no stuffposting.
1.  Yes, personal belief and large historical basis (however no empirical evidence suggests it).
2.  Belief without empirical evidence.
3.  Personal choice, really.  I don't depend on God or anything but I'm not uncomfortable with the idea of looking up to a spiritual leader.
4.  Friends and family, happiness, achievement, all with or without God.

Sure we can't scientifically prove that God is real, but that's not the point. The point is that there are a lot of people going around saying God isn't real as if it's proven, and then rubbing it in religious people's faces.
And while we're at it, I'll be fair and say that it's equally silly to go around saying atheists are stupid, and rubbing their beliefs in their faces.

That would be called an Apatheist.

if god is real then how did beep boopity flip flappity gumbo chops?

It's just that no one can just say something like "God is not real", because nobody actually knows or can even prove that
If a god makes no interaction with humanity, then there is no way to know if said god exists.
If a god is claimed to make, or has made, specific interactions, then you can test if these interactions do or have actually occured.

I'd also like to add another thing to question number three: the amount of resistance and taboo about questioning/testing faith. The phrase "If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear" comes to mind. Surely, if a religion was true, it would welcome people to test it, because they would surely see for themselves that it is true, and flock to it. Instead, you have very specific Bible verses condemning it, and children are often scolded for asking the simple, innocent questions that are in a child's curious nature to ask. Similarly, look at all the history of hostility the catholic church has had towards those who have made scientific discoveries contrary to the church's teaching.

of course, because a highly politicized european power monopoly from 1000 years ago was clearly the true form of christianity

1. Does God exist? why or why not? God exist if you think he exists. In my opinion, no, I don't think he exists. There is no scientific evidence that can claim he is. No, the "trees, the nature." is not all the proof we need. Also, the Bible has so many contradictions I can't say that it is all true. The only proof that God exists is the Bible.
2. What is faith?
faith
fāTH
noun
1.
complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
"this restores one's faith in politicians"
2.
strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.

3. What has led you to believe or to doubt? Why? There is no scientific evidence of the existence of God. I also don't think that a snake is able to talk to a man that was made from earth, and a women that was made from the mans rib. Also, the Universe is clearly not 6,000 years old. Light doesn't come before a source of light. Stars don't come after a planet is established.
4. What makes your life meaningful/ worthwhile? Me not worrying what will happen to myself and wasting 25% of it trying not to end up in Hell or Heaven. I have my family to love. I have that boy that I need to have a relationship with, considering it is hard enough since I am gay. I have to complete my education because that is what took up most of my life. I just have a life to live.

Athiesm in a nutshell.

a highly politicized european power monopoly from 1000 years ago
Well no stuff that's what it was, but that's not the point.
The point is that it's an example of organized religion silencing anyone who questions them.

1. Only Sith deal in absolutes. I believe he exists, but I can not prove it. It's faith.
2. Blind trust, in a nutshell.
3. Not sure what you mean. There are lots of things that make me feel confident in believing Christianity, but I've always been a Christian.
4. Music, friends.

I also don't think that a snake is able to talk to a man that was made from earth, and a women that was made from the mans rib. Also, the Universe is clearly not 6,000 years old. Light doesn't come before a source of light. Stars don't come after a planet is established.

I think you're forgetting this dude is the guy who made the fierfecking universe.

The snake was a physical incarnation of Satan. I personally think it was more of a metaphor.
The creation of Adam and Eve is a miracle.
Won't elaborate because you're not specific, though the earth's apparent age could be attributed to the flood and space's apparent age could be set by God from the start to be like that.
Think of it this way: a game doesn't come before the files. You have to have light before you have something to emit light or your emitter will not do anything.
If God made stars and everything else in space to be seen as beauty, he could easily speed up the process of light travel or eliminate it entirely. Another miracle.

I don't mean to target you but I see lots of people attribute laws and science to God. Science is real by all means but this is the guy who created science. I'm sure he can circumvent it if he pleases.

Instead, you have very specific Bible verses condemning it, and children are often scolded for asking the simple, innocent questions that are in a child's curious nature to ask.
Parents who scold their children for asking are only doing that because they're uneducated and don't know the answer themselves. It's wrong of them to do that

And there are no Bible verses condemning good research and investigation to test and see if it is valid. The only verse I can think of that you may be referring to is the one that says "you should not test the Lord your God" or something along those lines, and that's referring to something totally different.

In context, it means that you shouldn't go to God and say, "If you're real, then do this miracle at this exact moment in this exact way to prove it to me. If it doesn't happen then you're not real." Which is what a lot of people do. And the reason that doesn't work is because when you do that you're acting like God is obligated to answer to you. That just doesn't work
If you truly wanted a sign, (which is another problem, most people don't really want to see a sign when they ask) you would first do some investigation on your part and try and do things on his terms.

Say you got a new boss for example, you can email him but he can't email back because his program is broken or something. You don't believe you got a new boss so you email him saying
"Hey boss, I don't believe you're actually hired yet. But if you are then just leave a broom by the front door of the office before you leave tomorrow. Or else I won't believe what my coworker says about you being here or about any of your so called orders." That's what most people do, and to be honest, it's done with the wrong attitude and it seems a little disrespectful. So why should the boss follow through? You would be out of line, not him

Light doesn't come before a source of light. Stars don't come after a planet is established.
one verse in Genesis says "God stretched out the heavens." God could have always made the stars closer to earth, then made them move outward- explaining why the universe is expanding and why we can see stars

"We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty Humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes." -  Gene Roddenberry

Yes I believe God is real

God said to subdue the earth. Scientific research falls under this. It's when origin science (Creationism, Evolution, etc) get mixed in the equation that it supposedly disproves God and in turn apparently "disallows" Christians to investigate because it would "prove them wrong".

"We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty Humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes." -  Gene Roddenberry

Faulty humans? As in humans with free will?
God created humanity to love them. Love only exists with free will. You cannot force people to love. He wanted people to choose to love him. Some do. They're called Jews and Christians. Short sentence #7. I'm thinking arbys.

defensive much?
I was just laughing because I genuinely thought that was an odd word.

If I have the choice of creating robot companions who like me because they're programmed to, or like me because they chose to, I would do the latter
Hence why we have free will, and why we can mess up, and why it's our fault
