Have some Imperial class, commoner.

the black color makes it look like either a hearse or a limo, but it's a beautiful car.

My '07 Yaris sedan is starting to make a squealing noise sometimes when I turn, like it's skidding. However, I know it's not skidding because it's on a loose gravel road (There's gravel, but it's not paved) sometimes when it does it. It's also not that squealing you sometimes hear from a car's engine. Is this something to be worried about?
your power steering system is dieing

or the belt is just getting old and slipping

This, Id check if the pump is leaking or if your fluid is just low.

That one is actually the limo version, and there was a hearse one too. They also came as convertible 2 door and 4 door sedan.

"unsafe"

forget the CBP and this bullstuff law

The belt was replaced just 8 months ago, though

If it's the power steering, then we're forgeted. This is my household's only car and we can't afford a new one.

You can replace the power steering pump fairly easy, if thats what it is.

Well, my dark red '98 Fort Escort station wagon hot rod is as good as dead.

Sent it to the shop to get the brakes looked at to find out that a badly needed oil change and fixing the brakes will cost $875, or $1,100 to replace the muffler too.
The guy advised me not to sink the money into it though, because everything on the underside is so rotted out that in a couple months I'll probably be putting my foot through the floor (guy says he can put his finger through it now).
He advised not driving it too much, and not at all on the highway.

So, how much can I reasonably expect to get for the thing form a junkyard?

this is one i found but it's a project (engine swapped, turbo, lowered, etc) whats everyones opinion on buying other's projects? to be honest i don't like it at all, but this probably what i'd do to it if it were mine. Also, besides the usual, anything i should look for? Im about 100% sure it's been raced/drifted so i don't wanna forget with a piece of stuff that's been abused.

ALSO: my dad started his project car. 1987 porsche 911 targa top. will provide pictures soon.

here's an album. You can see my dad and his friend looking at it. So far it starts up but shuts itself off after 2 seconds. It right now needs a lot of tlc. But the interior has been fixed up. Momo wheel, custom seats. His goal is to have it working, but the engine will be stock. It's his dream car.

LOL

Not individually mind you.

Itemized Cost:
Oil Change$26.55
Front Pads & Rotors$250.00
Calipers$110.15 x2
Lower Ball Joint$108.98
Muffler$140.17
Hanger$10.00
Labor ($100 + $75)$175.00

The necessary stuff (ball joint, brakes, oil change) would come to $875 ish.
The $1,100 would be that plus the muffler.

If he were really trying to screw me over he would've told me that the car should be okay after that work was done rather than advising me that my money would be equally well spent as kindling considering the rust on the subframe and underbelly.

So I've talked with a friend who's into cars and he'll be keeping an eye out.  I also saw a neighbor who I know sells cars and told him to keep me in mind if he sees anything decent in my price range.  Only good thing about this is that school's out and rather than sapping the remaining strength of my vehicle, I'm earning money at more than minimum wage to find its replacement.

PORSCHE 911 UPDATE: we got it to start! smoke started flying eveywhere and the engine kept sputtering and kept revving like crazy! I wasn't there for it though. It needs a rebuild. we're trying to haggle the price for it as a shell.

If you scrap it you can probably get a couple hundred bucks for it. Otherwise just sell it like $150, someone will buy it eventually.

We actually had an older Neon that came in the shop the other day where the engine cradle actually rusted in half. The motor actually was hanging out the bottom of the car.

That would not be a good way to start your day.
