The 2016 Explorer looks like it's worthy of being called an Explorer again. It even looks American.

woah

you needed a technician to tell you that about a 14,000 dollar car? The severity of their suck-factor increases the lower the trim level and the older the cobalt is. I wouldn't settle for anything less than a 2008 S/C, and I'd have all the recall fixes done asap

in other news, who's into sporty hatchbacks?

Yes, please.

I have one, just getting rid of it atm
wait your still alive rub?

I've been playing around with the idea of importing a kei truck from Japan (or possibly a van, some of them are incredibly ugly but they're pretty interesting cars). Parts aren't hard to find for trucks like the Suzuki Carry and Daihatsu HiJet since they are sold in the US, but the trucks themselves are overpriced because they are not that common. The cheapest one I have found is a  '97 HiJet with about 66,000 miles. The FOB is $495. Obviously the 25 year importation rule would not be in effect, but I wonder if it would work out because the same kind of truck is sold in the country...

Who knows?

It would basically be like a motorcycle and a truck crossed together, I hear they do about 75mph on the highway and most have mpg's over 40

the only way you can import a car into america is if
it's old enough for the 25 year law to be exempt
it's part of the show & display act
or if its modified to conform to the us spec emissions and safety
or you could always vin swap it (don't do this the government takes it super serious)

oh yeah you could also see if there is any in Canada because its only a 15 year import law from there

Good idea. I know about a Virginian guy who bought a Renault 5 in Ontario (I think, it was somewhere in Canada). He towed it over the border without any trouble and drove home with it.

Although with the truck already being in North America I won't be able to find as cheap

edit: woooooow

One more thing that I found.

The repair costs are absolute lies, so ignore them. I probably cringed most at #7, #3, and #2.
